Menopause - Seaweed is a Secret Health Food For Menopause

Women need calcium for good bone health. The successful "got milk?" ad convinces us that calcium is only in milk. You may think that they have to drink cow's milk in order to keep bone health.

For years, I wondered how Asian women do not consume milk, yet they have better bone health than Western women. Besides more physical daily working, I think sea vegetables are another secret health food of Asian women. The mainstream nutritionists have found soybeans are a healthy food from Eastern. Now I introduce seaweeds.

Although calcium is found in many foods, you have been brainwashed to believe it is only in milk. In fact, broccoli has about the same amount of calcium as milk, so do beets. Surprisingly, sea vegetables, such as kelp and hiziki, contain about 5 times more calcium than milk. Moreover, all seaweeds are rich in iron, phosphorus, potassium, manganese, sodium, zinc and of course iodine because they grow in sea water.

Moreover, the Mother Nature has balanced all those minerals inside seaweeds in a natural way for the human body to digest them easily, unlike mineral supplements from pills which the body absorbs poorly. Also, seaweeds are known to aid the healthy growth of nails, hair, bones and teeth, and ensure proper metabolism.

How to eat seaweeds?
Seaweeds are very cheap and you can find them in local Asian grocery stores. If you get dry seaweeds, soak them in cold water for about 30 minutes, cut them to small pieces, and mix them with your salads. If you do not like the taste of raw seaweeds in salads, put them in chicken soup, which will cover raw seaweed flavors. Also, you can find some seaweed snacks too. Eat seaweeds on a weekly base.
